Anderson Institute of Music and Performing Arts: School of Music

The Anderson Institute of Music & Performing Arts is proud to offer its flagship division – the AIM School of Music.

The AIM School of Music continues on a path that has seen it emerge as a strong force in music in higher education.
The graduates provide the best example of its influence on the world of music. Many of the School's students have gone on to schools such as ASU, Boston School of Music, and the American Music and Dramatic Academy. Many perform on the big stage opening for such acts as the Beach Boys, Andy Grammar, The Romantiks, and The Blues Travelers. Others have performed for Broadway style shows and had original works featured in movies.

All of the School's faculty are professional performers and featured in recording, concerts and recitals throughout the United States and abroad. The School of Music is a leader in the development of contemporary programs that respond to the needs of the music industry including show productions that incorporate fusion styles in dance, theater, lighting, and music. For example, it was the first to offer the 8th ranked show production in 2011 in Phoenix, Arizona known as Fashion Fantastico where wearable fashion design, theatrical lighting, music theater and modern dance was fused into an extravaganza.

Of equal importance are those programs which are essential to the core and substance of any great school of music. Strong traditional training in performance, theory, composition, music education, and musicology have produced a constant stream of artists, creators, and performers who make significant contributions to the quality of music life at home, church and the community.

This confluence of contemporary and traditional programs offer students a stimulating environment that resembles a microcosm of the music professions broadly.

Students from across Phoenix are attracted to the AIM School of Music because of the fine music education they know they will receive. The School enjoys a reputation as one of the most comprehensive and innovative music schools in the region.

Since its founding in 2005, the AIM School of Music has offered strong traditional training in music theory/composition, performance and music education. A flexible, well-rounded curriculum, designed to give students a professional edge, remains a hallmark of the School. This philosophy is particularly true in the strings, guitar, piano, voice, and drums/percussions disciplines where most of the School's students go on to perform on stages throughout the valley.

It is not just what the School's faculty know, but also what they do to further their own professional careers that makes them effective role models. All of the School's teaching faculty are recording artists and professional musicians with degrees and/or certifications from the nation's top music schools.

The AIM School of Music maintains in conjunction with Sky Walk Records a state-of-the-art recording studio. The studio integrates computer-based audio/video production systems and superb sound isolation and acoustics in a digital multitrack studio. AIM School of Music students can perform and produce world-class recordings.

Students choosing the AIM School of Music are focused, serious about their studies, and eager for the academic and performance opportunities that await them. That is why the dynamic, personal approach to learning offered at AIM is so valuable. Teaching staff get to know their students well- not just by name, but by interest and ability. They typically demonstrate a level of caring and commitment to their students that goes above and beyond the classroom.

AIM teaches all styles but specialize in Styles that include classical, jazz, Brazilian Jazz, blues, rock, bluegrass, pop, music theater, country, R&B and gospel/Christian.

The AIM School of Music provides a positive environment where every student is expected to strive for excellence to the very best of his or her abilities. We, in turn, will always strive to make a positive contribution to the lives of our students and our community. We will achieve this by giving students the individualized guidance and attention to which they are entitled while instilling the value of commitment, respect, hard work, discipline, and artistry.
